so nice

I just came home from the nicest postpartum visit. The dad said something like,

"You were right there when we needed you, and don't take this the wrong way because I mean it as a compliment, but I forgot you were there as the baby was being born...I think dad's are afraid they will be replaced by a doula but it wasn't like that at all. I'm so happy you were there - it made all the difference for us".

wow - what a wonderful compliment...but mostly for him because I was able to totally step back because he was doing such a wonderful job for her. I'm so happy for this family - they had the birth they really wanted and also really needed to heal from last time.
