going there...

Irony, thy name is the US Postal Service ...looking through mail from the last couple of days, I found a postcard for Susan G. Komen/Race For The Cure organization reminding me of all the races I could join in and support...um, no.

Instead, I will support Planned Parenthood - the place that provided me with well-woman care, including breast exams, pap smears and birth control when I was a student and before I had a job that included insurance...ya know, the 97% part of what they do.

I support my friends who are very involved and give their time and energy to local races/events/fundraising for SGK. But I can't support the organization until they reconsider this decision...the organization should not be making healthcare political, but now that they have, so am I. I stand with Planned Parenthood.

I'm with you Doulmomma. I gave to PP today, for the first time. I think a lot of people have. I read on Daily Kos that they received around $600,000 in donations since the Susan G. Komen Foundation announced its decision to defund PP.

I stand with you standing with PP.

I'm with you my friend. Just like you, PP helped me when I had little money and no health insurance. PP are the people working hands on (pun intended) with the women who need this kind of healthcare the most. PP is pro-women, 110%. SGK, it seems, is pro-SGK, 110%. It's really very sad.

Hi Kim!

I hope that we can count on your support at this year's Race for the Cure. As you know, SGK reversed their decision, and the LOCAL organization never stopped funding Planned Parenthood, giving them a grant again last year, and, hot off the presses, again this year.

When I took over as the Executive Director, I joined a consortium of other Komen Affiliates in the North East who see it as our mission to assure nothing like what happened last year happens again.

I hope we can count on your support this year.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Griola
