This was great, thanks! I was just contacted by a mama who is looking into a VBA3C and exploring her resources in Denver. This video made me cry, isn't it amazing how our birth experiences transform us?

I have had 3 c-sections...and just about every night that I lay my head down, I think about what "if"....what if I had birthed my babies naturally? What would it had been like? It is really like a piece of you is taken away when you are forced to have unwanted c-sections. I wish I would have seen your story before my last birth. I had my tubes tied, dreading the thought of another forced c-section if I was ever to get pregnant again.

Dear anonymous,
I wish your story was uncommon, but it is not, as I'm sure you know.
I don't want to be dismissive (at all), but I do hope you can look back on your births (- yes, I said births... you had unwanted c-sections but you also gave birth to wanted babies -) and can find the victories too. The questions you asked, the thought of what you would prefer even if no one was able to help you make that happen.
I really encourage every woman who feels any sort of trauma or sadness from her births to find someone to listen and help you frame your stories to find the power. Pam England form Birthing From Within & author/doula Penny Simkin are two names to consider for potential phone consults. And the fine folks at ICAN & VBAC.com...
I wish you peace. Please feel free to be in touch if more info is needed.

Many Blessing to you all. I am looking to have a VBA3C. All 3 were unbecessary. At 15 yrs old in 1999, I had my first son born C-Sec becuase the Dr said I couldn't do it. My 2nd in 2003 was a repeat C-sec after only 10 hours of labor becuase my Dr. said I wouldn't go any further, and the 3rd in 2006 was because the DR. said it was mandatory after have 2 c-sec already. I live in Virginia and I am praying that I can find a Dr/Hospital who will help me with a VBA3C. My husband and I would like to have another baby, but we won't if I have to have another C-sec. It is a shame when a family won't have another child, just because of c-sections. I refuse to go through the pain, frustration, angrer, depression, and feeling like a failure again. My husband and I have been looking and searching, but are getting no where fast. If you know any Dr's in the Hampton Roads area (near Norfolk, Virginia)that do VBA3C.....please keep us in mind. Thank you and God bless!!!!

Holly - good for you for seeking out the birth you desire. I'm sorry for the disappointments along the way. My suggestion would be to seek out the homebirth midwives in the area, just to pick their brains about care providers. You might also try area doulas. Here is a link to a blog by a doula/midwife-in-training friend in the VA/DC area - she might have some suggestions: http://empoweredbirth.typepad.com/empowering_birth_blog/

My best to you and your family (current, and hopefully future members!). Happy new year!

That video was so encouraging. I have had 3 c-sections and I am pregnant. I want a vaginal birth so bad but I don't know where to go. Like in the video everyone turns me down. I'm to the point I will have this child on my own at home. I live in Topeka, KS so if anyone knows of any resources I would love to hear about them. :)

Hi breezy,
do check with local doulas, midwives and other in the birth community - if there is a care provider who can help, they will know or can help find out. Best of luck to you!

I am in the same position. I have had 3 c-sections in only 26 months. My first was because I was having twins who were both breech, my second because my labor stalled at 4cm, and my third because I could not find a doctor who was willing to let me try. My husband and I are going to start trying for our fifth child soon, and I want so badly to have a vaginal birth. I was going to have my last child at home but every one was against me. So I ended up having yet another c-section. Your story was just so encouraging. Just what I needed to hear. Unfortunately, the closest doctor that would let me try is over 8 hours away. I live in a rural area of WV,and this doctor is in Ohio. But I am determined! Thank you so much for posting that.
